Amity Fruit
- Growing old is not for the faint of heart. But that doesn't mean one's heart should be steel.

- Loneliness doesn't always spur us to seek out someone to live for… sometimes that someone comes to us.
Much like the character in this story, my animation heart needs to loosen up! So I thought drawing "furry" creatures would help with my OCD attention to line weight and quality. Being able to capture the boney, anatomical characteristics of a made up cat-like quadruped creature is an important skill for me to have. But achieving hair is my greatest nemesis. In the past, hair for me has come out too clean or too detailed, resulting in a "boiling" effect. But considering that my animated characters are rarely shampooing their heads in the shower, I am setting out to discover and conquer hair.
Artists that I think have been able to achieve that fuzzy, feathery or furry feature I wish to create are listed below as my inspirations:
-2013 Animation Show of Shows "Fun With Father" ~by Chris Sanders
-2007 Animation Reel of Jennifer Hager - YouTube
These animators have created such beautiful loose and rough line work, that it's almost a pity to see them cleaned up and colored. Regardless of my love and devotion to colors (purple in particular), this is the most interesting style of animation to me, and I hope to learn enough about myself to do it justice.
Old Guy
He is a cat-like creature who has lived a full life, but tragically has become rigid, grouchy and alone. Just when he thinks solitude is the only companion he'll ever need, the little pup comes into his life and melts it all away.
Little Pup
Pup is small and squishy and new, and excited about life. He has been separated from his parents somehow, and has the need to attach himself to someone that can be his role model. He is affectionate and naive, and is unaware that his need for companionship might be a matter of life and death.
Nicely done.
